Looking forward to Parkinson's Awareness Week 2012

This Monday (16 April 2012) is the beginning of Parkinson's Awareness Week 2012 and we're looking forward to lots of exciting events in the coming week.

A major new Parkinson's research study will launch on 16 April, the first day of Parkinson's Awareness Week. And we want to hear what a cure would mean to you.

If you're a carer, person with Parkinson's or anyone affected by Parkinson's you can post your story - there will even be some celebs giving their messages too.

There are over 200 events on our Awareness Week event map and it's growing. From the information event in Inverness to the coffee morning in Torquay and 3 Bridges walk in Londonderry to a Candlelight Supper in Kent – events are stretching the length and breadth of the UK. There will be event near you so check out our map to find them.

We're working hard to achieve as much media coverage as we can during the week, to raise awareness of the urgent need to find a cure.

Keep an eye out for mentions of Parkinson's UK in local, regional and national media. We'll keep you posted on news and media items during the week.

We're excited that this year's Parkinson's Awareness Week will be bigger than ever - thank you to all of you for your hard work. Let's find a cure and improve the lives of everyone affected by Parkinson's.

You can get involved this weekend on social media and help raise Parkinson's awareness by adding our twibbon to your Twitter and Facebook profile pictures.
